Kristen Stewart to Set Off a 'Cherry Bomb'

Kristen Stewart to Set Off a 'Cherry Bomb'
Kristen Stewart, 18, will reportedly play rock mistress Joan Jett in a biopic of Joan's first all-girl band, the Runaways, who briefly ruled the Los Angeles rock scene in the late '70s.

The band is most famous for rising above their novelty act status and spawning the careers of Jett, now 50, and heavy metal goddess Lita "Kiss Me Deadly" Ford, also 50.

In its original incarnation, the band had one huge hit, the squalling brat anthem "Cherry Bomb," in 1976.

The girls were practically plucked from the Sunset Strip and lasted four years together.

Video director Floria Sigismondi, who sharpened her rock chops working with Marilyn Manson, David Bowie, Sheryl Crow and others, has written the script and will helm the project, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Shooting will be scheduled to allow vampire lover Stewart to shoot the upcoming sequel to Twilight—Full Moon.
